6 February 1955 - show-girl Elvira Pagã bares it all in 'Sao Paulo da garôa' at Teatro Intimo Nicette Bruno at Rua Vitoria, 663.
20 February 1955 - at Teatro Brasileiro de Comédia: Frederick Knott's 'Dial 'M' for murder' (Assassinato à domicílio) directed by Adolfo Celi, with Cleyde Yaconis, Fredi Kleeman, Jardel Filho, Waldemar Wry & Walmor Chagas.
26 February 1955 - super-impresario Walter Pinto presents 'Eu quero é me badalar' with Yvaná, a Portuguese transformist who passed himself as a French show-girl.

26 February 1955 - Walter Pinto's 'Eu quero é me badalar' opens at Teatro Santana, at Rua 24 de Maio with an all-star cast: Mesquitinha, Salomé Parisio, Ivaná, Nelia Paula, Caliope Veniere, Matára Ney, Vilma Rizo, Paulo Celestino, Maria Tereza, Rex Reid, Pedro Dias, Diana Morel, Manoel Vieira, Suzy Montel & Ernesto Teccerari.

20 February 1955 - Ivaná was at the peak of his popularity in Brazil in February 1955. One could see him in person at Teatro Santana in Walter Pinto's 'Eu quero é me badalar' or at the silver screen in Carlos Manga's 'Guerra ao Samba' in 25 different cinema houses.
13 March 1955 - on Tuesday & Wednesday Teatro de Arena would show Stafford Dickens' 'Esta noite é nossa'; on Thursdays & Fridays: Claude Spaak's 'A rosa dos ventos'; on Saturdays & Sundays they played Marchel Achard's 'Uma mulher e três palhaços' (Voulez-vous jouer avec moâ?) with Eva WilmaJohn Herbert, Renata Blaustein, Vicente Silvestre, Fabio Cardoso, Jose Renato & Jorge Fischer Jr.

13 March 1955 - comedienne Dercy Gonçalves was guaranteed to pack up the house to the rafters... this time with 'Um marido, pelo amor de Deus!'
Teatro Santana on rua 24 de Maio opened its 1955's Official Comedy Season with Henry Huisman's 'Malatesta', Michel de Ghelderode's 'Barabbas' & William Shakespeare's 'La nuit des rois'; all three plays in the French language for a fine cultured audience. Teatro Santana was demolished in 1960.

3 July 1955 - After 40 years in Brazil, The First National City Bank opens a brand-new building on the corner of Avenida São João & Avenida Ipiranga. Here's the ad City Bank published at daily 'O Estado de S.Paulo'.
6 September 1955 - at Teatro Íntimo Nicette Bruno show-girl Luz del Fuego in the 'revuette' 'A mulher é de morte'. Luz del Fuego nee Dora Vivacqua was a naturist who lived naked on an island and occasionally came back to the city theatres when she needed money. 
15 September 1955 - political revue 'Não vou no  golpe' (I won't be part of the putsch) pokes fun at the rightwing politicians like President Café Filho, Carlos Lacerda etc. who could not win by the ballot box and were constantly hatching coups de etait to prevent those who got elected like Juscelino Kubitschek to take power. It seems Brazil has not changed much since then (we're writing in November 2016)... the boys are mainly comedians like Silvino Neto, Otelo Zeloni, Costinha... the female cast were mainly show-girls like Berta Loran, Noelia Noel etc.
13 November 1955 - columnist Mary Wynne says even though there was a coup d'etait in the air she went out last night to her usual haunts. If you don't know what she's talking about well, have a read at the next piece of news.
Nereu Ramos - the only man in civilian clothes - after being sworn in as Brazilian President on 13 November 1955 by Defence Minister Marshal Teixeira Lott - the blonde military man next to Nereu.

13 November 1955 - Defence Minister Marshal Teixeira Lott had to prevent a coup d'etait concocted by rightwing politicians who wanted to prevent President elect Juscelino Kubitschek to take power legally. 
11 December 1955 - singer-actor Vicente Celestino is back with 'O ébrio' (The drunkard) at the stage of Teatro Santana - which was the highest grossing Brazilian movie ever since its release in 1946. The song which originated both film & play was even older; See great Procopio Ferreira in 'Esta noite choveu prata' (It rained silver last night) which inaugurates Teatro Natal at Praça Julio Mesquita.
