'Melodias', March 1964 - A few instances of 'Gente de Teatro' at this pop music monthly rag; Berta Zemel & Wolney are interviewed by the columnist Hilton Viana; Oscarito in 'Zero à esquerda'; Grupo Decisão with 'O inoportuno' with Edward Gurgel Aranha, Emilio di Biase & Sergio Mamberti. 
22nd March 1964 - at A Baiuca jazz was de rigueur: Luiz Chaves Trio, Thelma Soares and Sabá Trio. Sabá was Luiz Chaves' brother.
22nd March 1964 - Dave Gordon, the crooner from British Guiana sang nightly at Belisco plus Claudia Morena and Clea Marques; at Boite Djalma at Praça Franklin Roosevelt you could hear actress-singer Odete Lara sing accompanied by pianist Sergio Mendes and his Bossa Rio combo. Sergio Mendes would soon leave for the USA where he would build a great recording career at A&M a label owned by Herb Alpert; at  Boite Oasis, Italian cantautore Sergio Endrigo sang nightly for a week. Duda and Manfredo Fest played afterwards.
22nd March 1964 - At Fasano on Avenida Paulista, Luiz Loy & his combo; at The Pub on Avenida Sao Luiz corner with Praça Dom Jose Gaspar, US pianist Fred Feld played away every night.
22nd March 1964 - just 10 days short of a major coup d'etat (1st April 1964) this was part of the theatre-scene in São Paulo.

12 April 1964 - Brazilian top movie star Norma Benguel accompanied by Zimbo Trio at Boite Oasis plus Caco VelhoMandred Fest and others; at Juão Sebastião Bar Geraldo Vandré & Sambalanço Trio plus Marisa & Sebastião Conjunto; at Belisco on Rua Caio Prado, Claudia Moreno plus Dave Gordon.
12 April 1964 - US dancer & singer Lennie Dale in a show called 'Samba & Balanço' featuring Marisa, Gaguinho e Sambalanço Trio.
'Melodias', June 1964 - a view of what was shown in São Paulo: Dostoievsky's 'White Night' (Noites Brancas) translated and adapted for the stage by Berta Zemel, who plays the main role along with Odavlas Petti & Gustavo Pinheiro; 'Boeing, Boeing' with Elizabeth Hartmann, Nydia Licia & Eva Wilma was still going strong after more than a year; Miriam Mehler played opposite Tarcisio Meira in 'Toda donzela tem um pai que é uma fera'.
23rd June 1964 - American dancer & singer Lennie Dale performed at Boite Djalma on Praça Roosevel every night with Eneida Jalena & Sambalanço Trio; at Juão Sebastião Bar on Rua Major Sertório were Ana Lúcia & Geraldo Vandré; at Sambalanço on rua Peixoto Gomide were Roberto Luna & Mauricy Moura. at Teatro Record Italian rock'n'roller Rita Pavone gave her first recital at 9:00 PM at Teatro Record on Rua da Consolação.
Elizabeth Hartmann, Francisco Cuoco, Nydia Licia, Eva Wilma, John Herbert & Carminha Brandão at Teatro Bela Vista staging of 'Boeing-Boeing', a farce written by the French playwright Marc Camoletti. The English language adaptation, translated by Beverley Cross, was first staged in London at the Apollo Theatre in 1962. It was translated into Portuguese by Elsie Lessa, produced by Oscar Ornstein and opened at Teatro Copacabana in Rio in 1963.
28 June 1964 - Actor Sergio Cardoso performs poems & sings songs written by Vinicius de Moraes (Mais dez Vinícius) at Ela, Cravo e Canela in front of the poet himself. 
28 June 1964 - Maria Della Costa talks to an OESP's journalist about her trip to New York City to meet Arthur Miller and get the rights to stage 'After the fall' in Brazil. Maria and her husband Sandro Polonio spent a week in the Big Apple. They saw 'After the fall' on the Saturday they arrived. Della Costa really liked the play but thought it a little cold and 'cerebral'. They saw as many plays they could at Broadway, but couldn't get tickets to see 'Hello, Dolly' and 'Hamlet'. Ms Della Costa was impressed with New York's World Fair and met a lot of Brazilians in Manhattan.

22nd July 1964 - Wednesday - Arthur Miller's 'Depois da queda' (After the fall) opens at Teatro Maria Della Costa with Paulo Autran, Fernando Balleroni, Marcia Real, Thereza Austregésyo, Ripoli Filho, Carlos Garcia, Suzy Arruda, Dina Sfat, Roberto Miranda, Elza Riani and Delmar Mancuso. 
1st August 1964 - Della Costa, Paulo Autran and great cast in their 2nd week of running success. 
9 August 1964 - OESP columnist Décio de Almeida Prado reviews 'Depois da queda' (After the fall) - from Paulo Autran's own scrap-book.

1st August 1964 - While Della Costa & Autran played 'After the fall', the American Beetles played their electric guitars at Teatro Record for a whole week.
6 September 1964 - French young sensation Françoise Hardy would sing at Teatro Record five consecutive nights - 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 September 1964.
18 October 1964 - Tex-Mex Trini Lopez performs at Teatro Recor at the peak of his popularity - one and only show in Brazil - on Sunday night at 9:00 pm. We'd love to know about this only performance.

15 December 1964 - Ruth Escobar presents 'Opera dos 3 vinténs' with Leny Eversong, Luely Figueiró & a great cast. 
27 December 1964 - Great voice Leny Eversong leads a great cast in Brecht's 'Dreigroschenoper' (Opera de 3 vintens) at Teatro Ruth Escobar. Movie star and singer Luely Figueiró stands out.

27 December 1964 - Even though Mary Gonçalves had been gone now for 4 years, columnist Mary Wynne could never forget those 'good old days' when Mary & her Boys would introduce all the Anglo-American smash hits like 'Little darlin', 'Day-O', 'Only you' etc. at A Baiuca that started its functions on 27 December 1956.
